CHIESA DI VILLANOVA DELLA CARTERA

You can see the old parish church, once dedicated to theVirgin Mary and Saint George, in the hamlet of Villanova della Cartera; a plaque put in 2002 above the main entrance says it is now dedicated to Saint Thomas the Apostle.

This church was under the parish of San Giorgio, and it was first named during the visit of Cesare Nores, Bishop of Poreç in 1584.

In 1922 it became a church with its own priest and in 1959 parish church, by Bishop’s decree.

The present church was built in different periods and was certainly enlarged by Sebastiano Lotti from Bertiolo in 1784.
